One of my favorite quotes, from Anne McCaffrey in _Decision at Doona_. All hell has broken loose and one of the characters makes a bad joke. Another says angrily that it's not a laughing matter and the first replies (in a fake drawl), "If'n Ah doan' laugh, then as sure as Hell stinks, Ah'm g'wanna cry."

I read that when I was about twelve or so and loved it from the very first. Pretty much words to live by...

I hope whatever you're laughing off goes away so things get better. *hug*

My life story.

Then... it does help to keep an eye on what matters, and what is truly trivial.

Perhaps further... Identify those things you can impact, and deal with those.

Hate to bring this up again:

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

My twist is to actually enjoy whatever comes along. Find an aspect that makes you smile.

Aside: It might seem that I've been sorta picking on you today. It'd be more accurate that you've raised issues are not solely yours alone. Even if the details differ it's worth noting.
