Finally!

I finally finished the white tunic.  It's the first piece of garb I've made for myself in almost two years.  The seams are all finished, with either a felled finish, or French seamed.  The neck facing and sleeve facings are not interfaced with modern interfacing, but instead, I used two layers of the linen, and the way I finished them makes it all nice and neat.

The bottom one is a shot of the side-seam and the hem.  I started with hem stitches about every 1/8th inch, and while it took a LONG time to do, I like it.  It's a doubled hem, since the two inches I started with was still a wee bit too long, so I just rolled it up one more inch.  Overall, I like it a lot.   I had to fit it pretty extensively, but I think I'll be using the pattern again, just in a smaller size.
I'm pretty happy with myself, but I'm feeling kinda "meh" from the impending menstrual cycle.  Yuck.

How did I get ahead of you? I swear my body hates me more than yours hates you. It can't even keep to a regular schedule...

Oh, and it looks great, hun! I bet it looks even better in person, since white linen doesn't show details well in photos.

Oooh, very nice! :)

:) I need to learn to make those nice side seams - mine are fraying (the fabric, not the seams), which leaves strings in the wash. I am so much more lazy than you. ;)

French seams are pretty easy, they just take a wee bit of planning. :-) The felled ones, the ones I do by hand, are the pain in the butt! :-D

you know...it was YEARS before i knew that you could buy "interfacing" in a yard goods store. mama always used fabric to interface/line with. and she does gorgeous work. :)

and so, by the way, do you. *hugs*

That would rock. If we can figure it out, before a hurricane comes knocking, I'd love that.

Might we get a picture of you wearing it?

Also, have you heard from Aramis lately?

It is an undertunic. The dalmatica, or over tunic will be a blue.

I heard from Aramis early last week, but haven't heard from him recently. He and his lovely family are fine.

Ah, but when the impending Doom passes, you will still have the tunic to feel good about. :)

Very nice work.
