Heh. The weatherstripping on the front door got all borked up last night and needs to be replaced. My first thought was "I should call the landlord." My second was "You gonna call yourself, dumbass?"

Heeeeeee!

(For the record, I did go and get new weatherstripping. Now, I just need a hacksaw and the time to put it on Real Soon Now.)

I think Harbor freight is having a big sale on thanksgiving weekend. You should be able to get a lot of basic tools for cheap.

Thank you! We have most of them, but we live in the Land of the Boxes these days. :-D So, a chance to pick up some that we need, is not a bad idea!

I know all about that call yourself to fix the house and living in the land of boxes.

Sometimes if you just don't want to do it, you can call a handyman.

I'm excited because I found my spice rack and my utensil racks and I can have a home for them.

Yay for finding things! :) Post-moving is like Christmas to me - I'm always excited when I find something I was looking for. :)

Welcome to home ownership. It's got it's good side, and it's not so good side. :-)

The bad news: you gotta do it yourself. The good news: you don't have to wait for the landlord to get around to it.

My "wish I could call the landlord" moment was when I was unclogging a fan vent and had dead bird fall on me.

When I was a kid we had a live bird peck its way out of the cover over the kitchen stove fan.

Make sure you send that letter Certified / Receipt Requested!

To make sure that you can prove to yourself that you sent it to yourself and that you in fact received it. ;-)

I'm not sure a letter is good enough

She's going to have to find out what the current standard form is for a formal work order.

LOL :)

I'm enjoying being able to fix things the way I want them, though I know I will miss the maintenance guys sometimes. :)
